Serpents of the Sea – march update
The Serpents of the Sea are nearly ready to set sail—and with them comes a fresh tide of savagery and steel. Time for another update from the north!
This week, I’ve finally wrapped up work on a few key characters and a towering addition to the warband. It took a while—partly because I wanted to knock out all their snow-covered bases in one go, and partly because my attention wandered back to 40k for a while. But now, with the icewind howling and inspiration surging again, the Norse are back—and they’re not coming alone.
Gr’dnar, the Chaos Giant

When the Norse set out to raid, they don’t march alone. Twisted beasts, warped monsters, and primal horrors often walk beside them. Gr’dnar is one such nightmare—a Chaos Giant drawn from the southern fringes of Norsca, where the winds of Chaos are faint but ever-present.
Though not yet wholly mutated by the gods, Gr’dnar is a brutal, mindless force, feared even by the warriors who march beside him. Taken in by the Skarig tribe, he was marked by their shamans with dark runes and vile tattoos, each a symbol of dominion and destruction. The meanings of these carvings are lost to most—but in the Dark Tongue, they whisper promises of unending carnage. Gr’dnar doesn’t speak. He only crushes.
Hevig Headtaker, Chieftain of the Skarig
Hevig Headtaker lives up to his name. The warlord of the Skarig tribe, he carved out his reputation by piling heads at his feet and laughing while the blood cooled. Now, he has sworn loyalty to Jarl Doom, hoping to win favor in the eyes of the dark gods—and a throne when the old world burns.
Hevig wields a two-handed axe caked in gore, and it’s said he whispers to his fallen enemies before removing their heads—a ritual offering to whatever dark force watches from beyond the veil.
Ragor and Kegal, Exalted Serpents

No warlord rises alone. At Jarl Doom’s side stand two of his most fearsome lieutenants: Ragor and Kegal, twin terrors of the frozen coast. Both are Exalted Champions, hardened killers whose loyalty was earned on the battlefield and sealed in blood.
Kegal is the colder of the two, methodical and cruel. Ragor is all fury, charging into battle like a beast unchained. Together, they serve as Jarl Doom’s personal guard, his fists in the chaos to come, and the harbingers of the warhost’s growing legend.
